Beat procrastination with the Pomodoro technique — focused study blocks separated by short breaks, with a session counter and a gentle chime. The countdown even shows in your browser tab. Free, with no sign-up.
Runs entirely in your browser — keep this tab open while you study.
Changing the preset or the minutes applies to the next session — the current countdown keeps running. Refreshing the page resets the timer and today's session count; nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
The Pomodoro technique breaks study time into short, fully focused blocks — classically 25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break — with a longer break after every fourth session. The fixed end point makes it much easier to start ("it's only 25 minutes") and the frequent breaks keep concentration fresh instead of letting it fade over a long, unbroken sitting.
How to use this timer well: before pressing Start, decide exactly what you'll work on — one past paper, one chapter, one set of flashcards. During the focus block, do only that: keep your phone out of reach and resist switching tasks. When the chime sounds, actually take the break — stand up, stretch, drink water — and come back when the break ends. The session counter and focused-time total show your real, honest study time for the day, which is usually far more revealing than hours "spent at the desk".
The Deep Work 50/10 preset suits older students and tasks that need a longer run-up, like essay writing or problem sets — and the Custom option lets you tune every duration. If you find yourself regularly skipping breaks or abandoning sessions, shorten the focus block rather than pushing through: consistency beats intensity when you're building a study habit.
